Based on last night’s FASHFEST – showcasing #CharlyThornDesigns #MeganCanningsDesigns and #HajarGala_Couture at the National Gallery of Australia – Canberra’s iconic fashion event, (inspired by both local talent and international trends) – is the place to be this December… And here are 5 reasons to get your ticket fast for the next FASHFEST…
FASHFEST has changed things up this year compared with previous years, in order to keep the event as fresh as ever-evolving fashion trends for Canberra’s fashionistas and creatives. And one of the main changes other than having several shows instead of the one, longer event, is that the collections are showcased at venues of cultural and historical significance – this is very exciting… as we are yet to discover the exact date and venue for December… you don’t get fresher than that!
With three womenswear designers showing at FASHFEST October – my sources tell me that Morganson’s Finery will be at December’s show – the ACT’s premiere menswear retailer specialising in ready-to-wear and made-to-measure pieces. Follow them on Instagram to keep up-to-date with news on their collection.
FASHFEST at the art gallery had a delightful cocktail especially and elegantly designed for the occasion by Harry at Archie Rose Distilling Co. It is likely that December’s VIP tickets will include a free tipple too, and if the cocktail is anything like the Quandong Paint Cocktail, inspired by Lichtenstein’s brushstrokes then we are in for a treat at FASHFEST December. The cocktail will no doubt be designed in-keeping with the next venue.
I love that music was not omitted from the art and fashion equation; with popular songs sang in the bar area pre and post show (they were really great!), and cool tunes during the gowns and evening luxe fashion show by Zares – Canberra DJ and electronic dance producer who brought the space alive during the models’ walk.
FASHFEST is clearly a fusion of culture and fashion, and one of the loveliest aspects of the event is seeing such an ecclectic group of people together in the same space, sharing their obvious passion for creativity on various levels… From families, father and daughter pairs to sisters, to best friends, married couples, creatives and more.
December’s FASHFEST will no doubt attract just as much variety and fabulousness as October’s event, proving that FastFesh is certainly adding a capital F to the fashion scene in the capital.
